Purpleheart is an extremely dense and water-resistant wood. It is ranked one of the hardest and stiffest woods in the world with a Janka rating around 2500.
When freshly cut, the heartwood of Purpleheart is a dull grayish/purplish brown. When exposed to the sun and its UV light, the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and exposure, the wood becomes a dark brown with just a hint of purple. This color-shift can be slowed and minimized by using a UV inhibiting finish on the wood.
Purpleheart Hardwood flooring has tight and thin grain lines and beautiful natural luster.

Unique Purpleheart Hardwood
This exotic wood is from a tree native to tropical regions of Central and South America, where they grow in tropical rainforests. Purpleheart comes from the rainforests of Brazil, Guyana, and Suriname.
The grain is usually straight, but can also be wavy or irregular. Purpleheart has a medium texture with good natural luster. Sometimes called "Amaranth," this colorful Latin American hardwood is tremendously popular for furniture and other designs that call for a unique splash of color.
In addition to its incredible color, Purpleheart has excellent strength properties, and can be used in applications where durability is important. Purpleheart can be used in both interior and exterior applications such as decking.
